European Commission officials and African Union representatives met in Brussels to sign a series of agreements aimed at accelerating clean energy deployment, expanding sustainable infrastructure, and promoting green economic growth across African states. The initiatives include joint investment frameworks for solar, wind, and hydropower projects, as well as regulatory support for public-private partnerships. Commissioner for International Partnerships highlighted the importance of aligning climate goals with Africa’s development needs, stressing that mutual prosperity depends on sustainable investment flows. African leaders welcomed the agreements, noting that improved infrastructure and access to clean energy are critical for job creation, industrialisation, and environmental resilience. The partnerships also focus on digital connectivity and vocational training to support local workforce development.
